Perspective Galerie presents Au-delà du Réel
A group exhibition bringing together Fabienne Houzé-Ricard, Mireille Robbe, Juan Manuel Rodriguez and Madeleine Guiton, in the heart of the Palacete Severo in Porto.
Through painting, drawing and installation, the four artists explore this fragile zone where reality, whilst remaining recognizable, begins to transform. A familiar object takes on a new presence, an old image gives way to a different narrative, a landscape becomes an extension of a memory, and an everyday scene is disrupted by the interplay of light and perception.

The place where this exhibition unfolds is not neutral.
Between memory, imagination and perception, Fabienne Houzé-Ricard has spent several years developing a body of work centred on the nest, understood simultaneously as a primordial form, a refuge and a mental space. In her series États d'âme, this architecture of the living welcomes objects, plant elements and materials that progressively transform the nest into an interior landscape.
Mireille Robbe intervenes on old engravings, reactivating them through colour and the emergence of unexpected forms. Landscapes, architectures and historical scenes become supports for new fictions. The archive thus opens onto the present and recovers a capacity for transformation.
Juan Manuel Rodriguez paints landscapes and skies from memory. Clouds, horizons and atmospheric variations compose a space situated between lived experience and mental reconstruction. The precision of the visible finds there an almost dreamlike dimension.
Madeleine Guiton is interested in the mechanisms of perception and in the way images transform our relationship with reality. Working from photographs and everyday scenes, she explores framing, contrast, colour and light — natural, artificial, or coming from screens — to reveal the instability of what we believe we see.
Presented across the different spaces of Palacete Severo, the works also resonate with the architecture and uses of the place. The journey builds room by room, drawing out correspondences between the works and inviting the viewer to experience reality as matter in motion.

EXHIBITION VIEWS
Perspective Galerie is a contemporary art gallery founded 20 years ago by Géraldine Banier in Paris, in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. Since its inception, it has supported artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, both established and emerging.
Today, the gallery focuses its activity on a vibrant and singular exhibition space: Palacete Severo, in Porto. Located at the heart of this hotel, Perspective Galerie unfolds a rare experience, where artworks inhabit both the public spaces and the guest rooms. The hanging is conceived as a daily presence: a way of discovering art differently, within the intimacy of a lived-in place, conducive to contemplation, surprise, and dialogue.
The gallery regularly collaborates with independent curators, offering a demanding programme open to the diversity of contemporary forms and territories.
